✨ Opal Cabbing 💎

I’m cabbing Australian Opal from Coober Pedy, Lightning Ridge and Mintabie. I also have some Ethiopian Opal available.

All Opals are sourced from Australian miners, friends.

One thing I want to add is that Opal are not as fragile as [they] want you to think. In fact when cutting them they go through a quite harsh process: burning hot wax, raw flame, angry diamond wheels... I suppose they will be fine on your finger!

🇪🇹 ☕️ Ethiopian Welo Opals

The most important opal discovery in Ethiopia to date was made in 2008 near the town of Wegel Tena in the Wollo Province in the northern part of the country. This opal can have vivid play-of-color flashing from a body color of clear, white, yellow, orange, or brown. It is more stable than the North Shewa opal.

Ethiopian Opal from the Welo province are splendid, the play of color are mesmerizing and surreal. BUT they are not as stable as their Australian counterpart due to their more porous structure. They absorb water and so depending of humidity the body tone/transparency and colors change. They can still be used in occasional wear jewellery or as specimen/collection stones 💎🔮🧙🏽‍♂️
